Heritage Day is the biggest one-day cultural event held in Flanders. 2016 sees the 28th edition of this opportunity to showcase our heritage treasures – an occasion that generates huge interest each year from the public and media alike. Heritage Day is the living proof that both our well-known and lesser-known buildings and monuments in Flanders continue to fascinate the people who visit them. The recipe for Heritage Day remains highly successful: hundreds of heritage sites throughout Flanders are open to visitors, free of charge, on the 2nd Sunday in September.
Heritage Day is organised by Herita.
Herita’s aim is to make everyone, young or old, enthusiastic about our heritage. Historic sites tell us so much about the past and the present day. They also bring people closer together. Herita makes sure that everyone can enjoy these monuments and heritage sites. Now and into the future. By throwing open the door to these important parts of our history and transforming them into places filled with amazing experiences and wonder. With Heritage Day as the year’s biggest and best celebration of our heritage. Not just on that day, but every day!
